Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree from the department of English Literature. In 1967 Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located situated in Washington DC. She became a Washington general correspondent of NBC News two years later. From 1981 onwards, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was appointed the top of the congressional reporters. Then she was named chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest in the TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She also served as a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to the protection from the infringement of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first reported on in the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988 throughout both Ronald Reagan's terms as President. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories including arms control, budget tax reforms and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went on numerous summits as part of the president Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
